Solar Energy Benefits

You probably know that the greatest source of energy on earth isn’t on the earth at all – it’s the sun. The sun provides living things with light and heat. Without it, life as we know it would cease to exist.

Now it has become possible for people to channel this energy to use in their own homes to generate electricity. This is becoming more and more popular all the time.

Let’s examine the benefits of a solar power house.

Solar energy only needs light from the sun for power; it doesn’t need any other outside fuel.Because of this, no damaging substances are released into the atmosphere. The energy from the sun is FREE. Installation is done once only, so there’s a one-time fee and that’s it.

It will take some years to recover the costs, to be sure, but once that time has passed, you’ll be looking at 100% free solar energy. If you generate more power than you need at that particular moment, you can store the energy in a battery. This will compensate for when it’s dark or cloudy. Also you can store this excess power in a battery so you can take it with you anywhere.

Imagine that – portable solar power! You could go camping, for example, and take your solar powered battery with you. Another thing people do with their excess solar power is sell it back to the grid. Imagine generating enough electricity to have some to spare! This will never make you rich, but it will definitely make you feel good about your investment.

The best use, though, will come when there’s a power outage. With global warming, we seem to be experiencing more and more freak storms which are playing havoc with the power grid. All your neighbors will be in the dark, but you’ll be fine. You can invite them all over to your house!

Now let’s look at some practical uses for solar energy.

You can use your solar power for cooking any way you want. It may take a bit longer to produce the heat you need, but when it comes, you’ll be smiling. You can cook away, knowing you’re not burning any fossil fuels to make your meal.

With enough solar panels, you should be able to produce enough energy to light your entire home. Also you can power your electrical appliances as well. Your solar system will turn on the lights at night because you’ll have some power stored, as we mentioned.

The other main thing you can do is heat your home. This will be a biggy. How wonderful will you feel heating your home with solar energy, knowing you’re saving money AND the environment? It just can’t get any better than that.

You will be pleased to know that your solar powered system will be low-maintenance. There are very few components, and they’re relatively simple to operate. Once your system is up and running, it will virtually run itself.

As you can see, there are many benefits to having your own solar power house. Once your system is set up and running, it will provide many years of guilt-free and inexpensive (or even free!) power.

This is one step you can take to empower yourself and do your part to save our planet.
